Admission to the Highland Drovers Exhibition is Free
Exhibition open from 10am to 4:30pm - Disabled Access.
To the right as you enter there is a small seating area where you can view a video presentation of the life and times of the Drovers narrated by locally born actor Dennis Lawson, uncle of Ewan McGregor.
Story boards line the walls giving a fascinating insight into the hardships and history of these difficult times. They depict The Drove Roads of Scotland, The Trysts, Origins of Droving, The Life of a Drover, Droving Country, Change and Decline and finally Emigration. These are well researched and give an absorbing insight into the history of the area.
A Time Line depicts the stirring and interesting life and times of Crieff and how this was influenced by the relevant history of Scotland during the same period.
On the final wall are maps of Scotland from 1724 to 1789 showing the evolution of the access through the Highlands including the roads built by General Wade to allow Government troops to subdue the clans after the '45' rising.
